Tech For Food symposium, 6 March 2007

The purpose of this meeting is to present the new technologies for the development of agriculture and food in southern countries.

With the explosion and relatively widespread use of new technologies, agriculture benefits from the progress madein other sectors such as space, the Internet, mobile telephones, mobile laboratories, etc. Tech For Food is based on the principle that these technologies should also act as an impetus for the development of agriculture in southern countries. Technology should not only be a result of development; it should also provide an impetus. This colloquy, which will be a forum for open discussion, will offer managers from southern countries the possibility to specify their expectations and requirements and will offer opportunities to analyse the initiatives conducted throughout the world, to capitalise on knowledge, to explore possibilities and to highlight obstacles in order to consider ways of overcoming them.
